August 20, 2008: On Thursday, August 21, Knit ‘N Needle Nook will begin a major sale to reduce our inventory. Our every day prices are the lowest in the area, and are typically 10 to 15% below other local yarn stores. Accordingly, when you take an additional discount on our everyday low prices, it results in major savings for our customers. During this sale, which applies to YARN ONLY, you will receive an additional 15% off our everyday low price. If your yarn purchases total $500 or more (excluding sales tax) or more, you will receive an additional 5% off your yarn purchases. This sale is for a limited time only, so shop early for the best selection.

During this sale, we are also offering 25% off all of our inventory of exquisite hand knitted garments from Dale of Norway. These are truly heirloom quality, and are just in time for the upcoming cooler weather. They will also make excellent gifts for friends and relatives. The quality of these garments is absolutely the best. This sale only applies ONLY to Dale of Norway knitted garments.

This sale applies to every ball, skein, & hank of yarn in our inventory. However, it does not apply to special orders, needles, books, patterns, magazines, instruction/classes, gift certificates, or prior sales. However, if you have a Knit ‘N Needle Nook Gift Certificate, now would be an excellent time to use it to get the maximum benefit from that gift card. This sale is of limited duration, and is subject to end without notice.

Remember - Do not be confused by "sales" touting percentages off an inflated price. The only thing that really counts is what you pay! In this measure, nobody comes close to Knit 'N Needle Nook. Stop by the store and see for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

As always, we accept cash, and checks only – Sorry no credit cards. All sales are final during this sale.

August 7, 2008: Workshop Wednesdays & Sundays! Bring your knitting problem or new project with you and we will work on them. These will start at 3:00PM and run until 4:00PM (or the problem is resolved). The fee for these workshops is $10.

July 26, 2008: We have just updated our store hours to reflect that we will now be open on Wednesday's from 11:00am until 4:00pm.

We are frequently asked to provide assistance with individual problem solving, which can encompass almost any aspect of knitting, including adapting patterns to your specific size or body. Even the most experienced knitter can be challenged at times and need assistance. We try to accommodate all requests, however, if your request is such that we do not feel competent to provide credible assistance to you we will be forthright and tell you this up front, and try to offer suggestions as to where you may receive the assistance you are seeking. While we are happy to provide such assistance, it is provided when time is available, and is $15. This help is on a private basis, by appointment.

July 17, 2008: Christmas in July SALE starts today. During this event, you will receive a special discount on every ball, skein, or hank of yarn in stock. This discount is on top of our every day low price, which is the lowest price of any retail yarn store on the Southeast. Stop by the store to learn more, and stock up on yarn for your knitting projects. We have an extensive inventory of all types of yarns available as we have been stocking up in advance of this event.

June 24: Recently completed the "Trumpet Skirt" shown below. This is a beautiful skirt, andnot too difficult to make. As shown, it was knitted using 8 skeins (119 yards/skein) of Noro Lily yarn, using size US 7 needles. Noro Lily is a blend of 30% silk and 70% cotton making the skirt extremely comfortable, and durable. This example is in the store.

June 17, 2008: Have just finished knitting the "Skating Skirt" shown. It is elegant, and quite beautiful, and as shown was knitted using two colors of yarn. The skirt requires (as shown) a total of 2,175 yards of DK weight yarn. In this case, it took 10 (141 yd/skeins) of the main color, and 5 (141 yd/skeins) of the accent color. We have the pattern available with the purchase of the yarn to make this incredible skirt. This is a perfect skirt for the summer, and is definitely a "head turner" that promises to get attention wherever you go.

May 28, 2008: We are almost to our closing for the summer, and want to remind everyone to stop by and see what's new, and there is a lot that is new. We now stock Blue Heron Yarns, and they are quite elegant. The skirt below was knitted using Blue Heron yarn, and it is exceptional. This sample is in the store for your inspection, and we also have this pattern available. As you can see, this design has quite a bit of flexibility, and would also make a beautiful shawl, or summer top. There is a touch of "sparkle" in the yarn, and is very soft to touch. It is 100% rayon.

The skirt shown right is another wonderful summer project. This lacy skirt is ideally suited to Silk City Yarns, which is 80% wool, and 20% nylon. While it is recommended to knit this 2 strings together, this example was done with a single string, and I think the result speaks for itself. By using Silk City, you avoid having to connect multiple skeins/balls as it comes on a cone, and the yardage is from 950 yards and up, making this a convenient knitting project.

For our final summer knitting project recommendation, we are featuring the "Kimono" shown left. This example was made using Mondial "Lucente" yarn, which is 50% cotton and 50% viscose. It is easy to knit, and again, the results speak for themselves. We have held classes for this Kimono, and people have made this from a variety of different yarns with spectactular results. Stop by the store and see for yourself.

Our "Gator Blue" yarn is on the way, and should be in the store in another day or two. The scarf below is on display in the store. Stop by and have a look, but beware, you may catch the deadly Central Florida strain of the "Gator Virus".

We wanted Boris to model this scarf, but we became concerned that Boris may decide to have the "Gator" for lunch. This concern was exacerbated by the fact that we had to put Boris on a diet... As a result he has become quite testy of late.
